Exploring the Determinants of the Relationships between the Land-Based Sectors with the Wider Rural Business Base in Scotland: An Empirical Analysis

Over the past two decades, relative socio-economic importance of land-based sectors has declined in comparison to non-land-based businesses such as tourism, food and beverage activities. However, policy implementation research have primarily focused on economic contributions businesses, leaving outside these rural areas, referred largely overlooked. Therefore, this study aims examine key determinants relationships between (farming, forestry landed estate) Scotland. Through a survey 1500 whose primary focus is not agriculture, or estates four Scottish regions, findings logit model reveal that located areas are more likely relationships, both direct (supplying purchasing goods/services) indirect, with farming, estate than their urban counterparts. Focusing results show business size, sectors, age, exporting, importing constraints related cash flow, digital connectivity government financial support significantly influence sectors.
